GeoRepo Geological Intelligence PWA
Mountain-ready offline geological mapping and structural data logging PWA for rugged fieldwork. Pairs client-side Whisper AI voice transcription with Anthropic Claude API for automated structuring of raw field notes into lithology taxonomies, strike/dip tables, and exploration reports.
Challenge & Context
Geologists working in high-altitude terrain across Arunachal Pradesh and the Himalayas operate in complete zero-connectivity deadzones. Hand-written paper logbooks suffer transcription errors, and conventional cloud AI tools are inaccessible in deep river valleys.
Engineering Execution
Built an offline-first PWA with IndexedDB local caching, vector compass-calibrated strike/dip calculations, and offline voice logging. Upon opportunistic satellite or cellular uplink, Anthropic Claude API runs agentic entity extraction to structure raw voice transcripts into standardized British Geological Survey (BGS) lithology taxonomies.
DESIGN & ENGINEERING EXECUTION
Monochrome high-contrast outdoor UI designed for maximum daylight readability under harsh mountain sun. Big tap targets calibrated for gloved hands in sub-zero field environments.
TypeScript, React 19, Mapbox GL offline vector cache, Web Audio API with local Whisper AI voice-to-text. The cloud synchronization worker leverages the Anthropic Claude API (Claude 3.5 Sonnet) with strict JSON schema outputs to parse strike, dip direction, lithological texture, mineral assemblages, and bedding planes into GIS-ready GeoJSON datasets.
